Pleasure Craft permits are required in ALL Walpole Island Territory regardless of fishing or not. Must have a Pleasure Craft permit and Fishing license to fish from a Pleasure Craft (NO TAX)

    Yes

  • 2. Do I need a pleasure craft license if I'm travelling in or through WIFN waters?

    No, as long as you are only passing through WIFN Territory.

  • 3. Is my jet-ski allowed in Walpole Island waters?

    No, they are not permitted at all.

  • 4. How much does a pleasure craft license cost and can I get a discount for multiple vessels which I own?

    A pleasure craft license costs $200 annually and there is no discount for multiple vessels.

  • 5. Is the boat launch at Johnson River off limits to launching for non-band members?

    Yes, open public boat launches include Highbanks and Put Puts

  • 6. Are the spawning areas accessible that are shown on the WIFN map?

    After June 21st, only fishing is permitted.

  • 7. What do I require if I want to fish from land?

    For non band members only a fishing permit

  • 8. What is allowed after June 21st, pertaining to spawning areas?

    Fishing only

  • 9. How long is a WIFN pleasure craft license good for?

    April 1st to December 31st

  • 10. Can I still access WIFN beaches by boat?

    No, must keep 150 feet away from shoreline.

    Allows access to all recreation activities, such as; fishing, swimming, line dropping.

    Restricted zones are still prohibited.

    Must be 18 years and older
