Community Cultural Centre
The Walpole Island Cultural Community Centre (WICCC) opened in 1987. It has an NHL size ice surface (200’x85′) and a 51’x73′ community hall. It is more commonly known as the “Arena” or “Sports Complex”.
The ice surface is available for rent during the hockey season, usually from mid-September to the end of March. Call (519) 627-1444 to book ice time or obtain current quotes. During the off season the floor is available to rent, mainly for lacrosse, but also hosts larger community functions especially during inclement weather (Pow Wow, Fall Fair, etc.).
The hall is also available to rent, either full or half size. It hosts community events such as weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, but also is used for program functions and community meetings. Rental fee is $100 for half hall and $200 for the full hall. Bookings can also be made at (519) 627-1444.
The WICCC employs an Arena Manager, Office Clerk, three Maintenance staff (one seasonal, all three being Certified Ice Technicians) and a Canteen person (seasonal).
The Mission Statement for the WICCC is “To be the focal point for social and cultural gatherings.”
